Organization
"Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Research Institute" with the objectives of defining and executing research projects in the areas of soil conservation and watershed management has been stablished in 1993. Its different research divisions with respect to various areas and research requirements are divided into three main groups :
A. identification group:
including research and analysis on weather and climate, water, vegetation and economic and social issues
B. Soil conservation and soil and water resources group:
including research and analysis on different water and soil conservation methods
C. Watershed utilization management group :
including surveys required in various fields of the management of the management of water resource, soil resources, vegetable products, sustainable socio-economic development in watersheds.Considering the aforementioned requirements, the center's different research divisions are as follows:

Functions and Objectives
The above-mentioned divisions, in accordance with specialized technical aspects and executive, units' needs and requirements with the aim of optimal and sustainable utilization of water and soil resources of country's watershed basins, have specific and joint research tasks and policies the important of which are as follows:
- Stating the plans and specifying the research priorities in broad terms and predicting the needs, services, labor equipments and required training programs, all according to specific conditions in each region,
- Cooperating and exchanging information and experiences with the affiliated divisions in provincial centers, as well as employing their scientific and practical capabilities,
- Supervizing the writing, compilation and analysis of projects proposed by provincial research centers for natural resources and livestock,
- Continued evaluating and supervizing of the progress in research projects proposed by provincial research centers for natural resources and livestock,
- Holding workshops to promote knowledge level and to transfer researchers' experiences among research centers.
- Paving the way for the participation of MSc and PhD students in conducting research projects as their dissertations,
- Cooperating with administrative division to define the borderlines between different studies and research, and writing research projects in accordance with administrative division's need,
- Setting the tasks and construction criteria for research stations in the country,
- Collecting data and information about the country's watersheds in order to complete database in accordance with the research divisions' fields.

Considering the importance of scientific sources in research, this Library and Document Center, among the most valuable and plentiful special libraries in Iran, covers a range of subjects such as hydraulics, hydrology, water resources, soil conservation and watershed management, river engineering, mathematical and hydraulic models, coastal protection engineering and the latest findings in the aforementioned fields.
