Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Research Institute (SCWMRI); with the mandate of researches on integrated watershed management, was founded in 1993. The main fields of its activities are to conduct applied researches in soil erosion and sediment yield, soil and water conservation, watershed management, flood management and exploitation, river engineering, river bank and coastal pro­ tection, hydrology and water resources development, aquifer management, climate change and drought impacts management. The SCWMRI recognized as the focal institute in watershed management in Iran, benefiting of cooperation of 200 academic and scientific staffs, researchers, professional engineers and qualified technicians. The national network of SCWMRI includes 26 provincial divisions and 40 research stations conducting research projects and pilots in different climate con­ dition across the country.
